Apple’s smartphone upgrade cycle always takes in two models that use the same body, with the newer model getting new internals. We’re at the end of one cycle now with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus looking like their predecessors, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
