At their core, trucks are just tools for moving stuff around. The GM Surus Autonomous Truck is a nearly pure expression of this idea. Short for “Silent Utility Rover Universal Superstructure,” the SURUS concept relies on the Hydrotec fuel cell system for power, and thanks to its autonomous functions, it doesn’t need a driver. So it doesn’t need a cab, either. As a result, it’s just a platform on which you can load and secure cargo, with a delivery range of 400 miles on a single charge.
